Yahya Ali and Harvey Langston-Jones co-founded Modern Architectural Practice (M_AP) in 2004. M_AP is committed to providing architecture of a high calibre that responds to it's environment, and addresses the issue of context and sustainability. Attention to detail and a sensual appreciation of space, light and materials defines the work ethos.

In every city different solutions operate that reveal a unique sense of place and space, for instance making London different to Berlin, Los Angeles or Dar- Es Salaam. M_AP's approach to practice is influenced by how cultures define, and evolve, and change the urban landscape(s). M_AP's mission is to capture and distil this unique sense of place and apply it to projects of differing scale, perhaps: a private residence, a lifestyle hotel, a museum.

To explore a sense of 'rightness' Ali and Langston-Jones investigate materials and methods of construction. Everyday materials are used in an unfamiliar way, allowing either the object or space to transform from the usual into the unusual. Laser-cut limestone, gold leafed resin or banana grass walls are only a few of the combinations so far realised.
